 ACE Recruitment

Myers Briggs personality test:
My results said I am a 'Consul ESFJ'. A factor of this personality type is that I like to help others. This suggest that I would work well in a team. Others skills are having a strong sense of duty, good at connecting with others, loyal and strong practical skills. Weaknesses include being sensitive to criticism, need emotional feedback to feel satisfied in their line of work and being too needy because they want to be valued. However, the site says that these are mostly cheerleaders and quarterbacks, People who like the spotlight. This is not me at all, but the part where it states analytical careers are often too dull does relate to me.

So I retook the test and got protagonist ENFJ-A/ENFJ-T. Who are likeable, creative, underestimate themselves, hardworking, reliable and eager to help. Again like Consul, a Protagonist is a good team player, this is because they are tolerant and can listen to others opinions. Weaknesses included fluctuating self esteem and struggle to make hard decisions. These are true to some extent.

19/11/20

Today is the ACE online assessment day, and I will get my feedback in about 24 hours. My schedule went: Group exorcise, Interview, then Presentation. The presentation was the only task I was in without knowing anyone.

20/11/20

Interview:

I think the interview could have went better, some questions I knew more on but I didn't have my notes in front of me. I thought because they didn't expect to look at our cv I didn't realise I could've read from it during the interview. Therefore if I had it or any form of my notes I would've done better.

I swayed between being clear with my answers and struggling with them- depending on if I was talking about something I was more passionate about.- which was when I was clearer and energy was increased. I need to believe in myself and show that I have loads of practical experience in various fields. - I will need to think about tone to demonstrate enthusiasm.

To help with my nerves and confidence - prepare examples I want to share in my answer even if its irrelevant of the question it will prepare me if my mind goes blank. Try to relax.

Be more precise with specific examples of my experience linking them to the qualifications and skills of the job. I did relate some experience to the job description such as using Adobe software's. However I felt I didn't have much in relation to any of the jobs that were available to me.

WWW: I was polite and professional

EBI:  Draw on more experience, think of questions to ask the interviewer, need more structure and how  would go about achieving your career goals.

Score - 2 development required

Group:

Our task was to create ideas to increase profits for the galleria. We mentioned having a social media account, an app with a map and university discounts, redesigning the parking/fast food route, remove some trees so the entrance can be seen, posters with QR code for the app for bus shelters etc.

I think this went well, all of the group participated and we also done some research for the task. Everyone respected each others ideas and one person spoke at a time. However we could've had a better structure when presenting the idea as we all just told her our ideas randomly. We could've structed it by having one person talk about advertising, another on events etc.

WWW: creative ideas and options, using chat function to capture ideas, Consistently made sensible, balanced and fact-base contributions to the group; having potential leadership, Understood importance of listening and inviting other to respond, took account of different backgrounds and perspectives to help achieve the task

EBI: demonstrate time awareness, don't be afraid to challenge and question others, be more assertive in taking responsibility for a particular element

Score - 3 meets the standard

Presentation:

I felt like I didn't do the best because I froze up, stuttered, said um a few time. I felt extremely nervous and forgot all the tips I had on this blog. I should've had written the tips down on my actual notes. I knew I would feel anxious which is why I had prepared notes, and made my presentation visually aesthetic to take the attention off of me. I got through my whole presentation but had to leave bits out due to time even thought I ended up going overtime by 30 seconds. Therefore I need to work on my time management.

WWW: Clear voice, slides well presented, presentation responded to all elements of the brief with an impressive amount of detail. Good use of data and examples and fantastic visual aids,

EBI: Practise out loud and in front of others so I know I will fit within the timeframe. Could help to record myself and watch it back. revisit the importance of an introduction and conclusion that summarise the key points, more detail to question at the end of the presentation.

Score - 3 meets the standard

Relating to my personality test

Both personalities relate to helping people and being selfless and a good listener, but I feel like after the assessment I related to a protagonist more than consul. This is because my self-esteem fluctuated shown in the interview and underestimating myself shown as I need to have more confidence. I was eager to help and contribute shown in the group exorcise.
